Atlanta's Tapestry of Light & Legacy
A celebration of place, connection, and the stories that illuminate a city.
From Canvas to Community
This work emerged from a desire to capture Atlanta not simply as a collection of buildings and landmarks, but as a living network of people, histories, cultures, and possibilities.
Through layers of symbolism, architecture, movement, and light, the painting invites viewers to explore the visible and invisible threads that connect the city together.

Story & Narrative
Atlanta is a city built through connection.
It is a place where history and possibility exist side by side. A city shaped by movement, resilience, creativity, and the countless individuals who have contributed to its ongoing story.
Atlanta's Tapestry of Light & Legacy was created as an exploration of those connections.
Throughout the composition, recognizable landmarks, cultural symbols, transportation systems, and community spaces are woven together into a unified visual landscape. The city becomes more than geography. It becomes relationship.
Figures throughout the work represent the people who continue to shape Atlanta's identity. Historic leaders, artists, athletes, families, children, and everyday citizens share space within the same visual narrative. Their stories intersect across generations, reminding us that cities are ultimately built by people rather than structures.
Light serves as a recurring motif throughout the piece. It appears as pathways, connections, roots, circuits, and illuminated networks. These elements suggest the flow of ideas, opportunities, relationships, and collective memory that move throughout a city and connect its communities.
The title reflects this central idea.
A tapestry is created through individual threads that become stronger when woven together.
Legacy is built through countless actions, contributions, and moments that continue to influence future generations.
Atlanta's story is still being written.
This work celebrates both the foundations that made the city possible and the possibilities that continue to emerge.
The city becomes a tapestry.
The people become the threads.
The light becomes the connection.
The legacy continues.
A Note from Jeremy
As both an artist and a neurophysiologist, I am fascinated by systems of connection.
The same principles that allow networks within the brain to communicate can also be found within communities, cities, and cultures.
While creating this work, I found myself reflecting on the many people, places, and experiences that contribute to Atlanta's identity. The painting became less about documenting a city and more about celebrating the relationships that make a city feel alive.
My hope is that viewers discover something familiar within the work while also noticing connections they may not have considered before.
Thank you for spending time with this piece.
